Move beyond simply reviewing data to using EVAAS data to inform action. In this full-
day, application-focused session, participants will step into a fictional school scenario
and use multiple EVAAS reports to examine student growth, identify trends, and
uncover opportunities for improvement. Through guided activities and practical decision-
making exercises, participants will explore how EVAAS data can inform school
leadership, strategic planning, instructional programming, and teacher support. The
session models a collaborative, data-informed approach to continuous school
improvement.
Learning Objectives
- Distinguish between achievement and growth and explain why both matter to
school leaders - Interpret school-level growth/value-added and diagnostic reports, including
patterns across grades, subjects, achievement groups, and years; - Identify the student- and teacher-level reports most useful to principals;
- Determine what leaders can and cannot appropriately conclude from EVAAS
data; - Use EVAAS alongside other quantitative and qualitative evidence rather than as
a stand-alone measure; - Apply EVAAS insights to PLCs, teacher coaching, professional learning, school
improvement, intervention, and enrichment; - Formulate effective questions when the data reveals an unexpected pattern; and
- Facilitate productive data conversations with teachers and leadership teams that
emphasize inquiry and improvement rather than accountability alone.
